Why water is urgent
In Pensacola heat, still water grows mold in 24 to 48 hours. It wicks up walls, swells floors, and hides in wall bays where you can't see. The puddle you see is never the full tale. True drying hunts the water you can't see.
How the pros do it
1. Pump out: still water leaves first. Pumps and wet vacs. Speed counts.
2. Find it: pros use damp meters and heat cams to find water in walls, under floors, and in fill. This step splits true drying from a mop job.
3. Cut out: soaked walls, fill, and rug pads tend to be lost. They get cut out and hauled. It feels harsh. It is a must.
4. Dry: big dehumidifiers and air movers run for days. Damp reads are tracked till goods hit dry norms.
5. Clean: mold block on hurt frames and faces, to curb growth.
Only when the frame tests dry should new walls, floors, and paint go in. Build on wet goods and mold will bloom behind your new walls.
What you can do
Pump still water out. Run fans. Run dehumidifiers if you have them. Pull up soaked rugs. Photo all of it first with the photo list. Do not gut walls blind. Do not run air-con through a soaked unit. "Feels dry" is not dry.
Insurance notes
Fast storm water (rain through wind harm) tends to be covered. Rising flood water is not — that takes its own flood policy. Know which you face before you file. File fast with the claim steps. Save each receipt for pumps, dryers, and urgent aid.
